Sizzling Heat Expected in Mar del Plata

During October and the first days of November, in the city of Mar del Plata, numerous hot days were recorded, with the thermal sensation exceeding 30 degrees on several occasions. However, the cool days of the last days are coming to an end, and temperatures are expected to exceed 30 degrees during the last week. For next weekend, 34 degrees are anticipated, while in the second half of December and all of January, temperatures in areas such as AMBA and tourist locations like Mar del Plata or Villa Gesell are expected to reach 40 degrees on several occasions.

After heavy rains in AMBA on Sunday, strong southwest winds cleared the sky, creating conditions for a rise in temperatures. Therefore, it is important to take precautions during the hottest days. It is recommended to stay hydrated, drinking between 2.5 and 3.5 liters of water per day, avoid sun exposure and intense exercise between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., wear light and light-colored clothing, and opt for a light diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables.

Regarding the false alarm about an extreme heat wave in the north of the country, the National Meteorological Service clarified that temperatures could be above normal this summer, although it is not expected to reach 50 to 55 degrees as initially interpreted. Despite the confusion, a scorching summer is anticipated in the province of Buenos Aires, with maximum temperatures potentially exceeding 50 degrees in the eastern part of the province and the Atlantic coast, including Mar del Plata.

Additionally, in the context of the "contingency plan and Forecast for critical months of the period 2024/2026" established in October by the Secretariat of Energy, scheduled power cuts for industries and businesses have been determined, as well as actions to ensure energy supply at times of high demand. Although it has not been confirmed that 50 degrees will be reached, an increase in temperatures is expected that will test the energy supply capacity, especially in the Capital Federal and its surroundings.
